[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We are now in an extraordinary phase where many people are buying wine to make money, rather than just to drink it\u2026and Super Tuscan wines seem to be at the forefront of this.<\/p>\n

The iconic names seem to be safe bets, whether it is Sassicaia from Tenuta San Guido<\/a>, or Ornellaia<\/a>, Masseto<\/a> or Tignanello<\/a> \u2013 these are all wines that will give you equal pleasure whether it be on the palate, or on the bank balance.<\/p>\n

At Waud Wines, our investment expertise has typically been with Bordeaux, as we have been running En Primeur campaigns since 2014. However, looking at Italy, there are certainly investment opportunities here. Many of our clients that have bought Sassicaia 2015 or 2016 have enjoyed returns of at over 50% in under 5 years, which compared to other investment options is impressive.<\/p>\n

If you compare these Super Tuscan Wines to the First Growth Bordeaux wines<\/a> of Lafite Rothschild<\/a>, Mouton Rothschild<\/a>, Margaux<\/a> and Haut Brion<\/a>, they are actually very good value indeed \u2013 and at price points that the most enthusiastic of drinkers can justify. We are currently selling Tignanello 2018 at \u00a3122.50, as well as Sassicaia 2018 at \u00a3245. These by comparison to the top guns of Bordeaux are far more affordable \u2013 and give a great opportunity to grow in value too.<\/p>\n

Wines<\/a> like Masseto, that are low production, are hard to get your hands on, so command an incredible price on release, however the fantastic wines of Tignanello, Sassicaia and Ornellaia are certainly wines you should have in your portfolio \u2013 it is just a question of whether you are able to keep the cork intact!<\/p>\n
